Tillie Krug Child Analytic Training Program (CATP) The Institute offers training for adult psychoanalytic candidates or adult psychoanalysts wishing to become child psychoanalysts. This program, known as the Southeastern Child Analytic Consortium, involves faculty and candidates from a range of psychoanalytic institutes throughout the country. The training involves a three-year didactic curriculum focused on the theory and technique of child/adolescent analysis. Candidates are ideally in psychoanalysis with a Training Analysis who meets the AAPE criteria for appointment of Supervising Analysts during the course of their child analytic training, as this is helpful in terms of the candidate’s internal responses to the intensity involved in child/adolescent analytic work. Candidates develop a minimum of three child or adolescent cases into middle phase, and regular (usually weekly) supervision for each case is provided by Child Supervising Analysts who meet AAPE criteria for appointment. Persons who are not adult candidates or psychoanalysts can apply for child-focused analytic training. The program, like the adult-focused training, is a five-year course of study. The program is based on a training model that includes participation in weekly classes for five years, clinical consultation, and a personal training analysis. Full participation in the activities of the Institute is available to any qualified person regardless of race, color, creed, age, gender, marital status, disability, national or ethnic origin, or sexual orientation.
